Description: Patras National Stadium housed all football games during the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. To cover the strict specifications, the existing stadium was upgraded to include a grandstands extension, new MEP installations and buildings to house them, steel roof over the western wing of the stadium, lighting towers and renovation of existing supporting buildings. The spectators’ seats were increased to 24,000. Constructed with the fast-track method, where design precedes construction by only a short time. Interesting features of the building are:
- Steel cantilever canopy of 20m,
- Prefabricated reinforced concrete grandstands on steel frame.
